The former Chief Executive of the Society of London Theatre and Theatrical Management Association, Richard Pulford, has died following a long battle with illness.
He stood down from his role as the head of the two theatre bodies last year, after nine years at their helm.
Speaking about his predecessor, current SOLT/TMA Chief Executive, Julian Bird said: “For those of us at SOLT and TMA who had the pleasure of working with him, his many qualities, counsel and friendship will be missed enormously.”
Oxford graduate Pulford began his career as a civil servant before becoming Deputy-Secretary General of the Arts Council of Great Britain in 1979. His career saw him move to the South Bank Centre before embarking on a freelance career as an independent consultant on cultural policy and administration, and joining SOLT/TMA in 2001.
President of SOLT, Mark Rubinstein, added: “Richard did an enormous amount for the society and its members. We will miss him and our thoughts go out to his family.”
