RAZ transfers to Trafalgar Studios

Published 21 January 2016

Olivier Award-winning playwright Jim Cartwright’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival hit RAZ will make its London premiere at the Trafalgar Studios this March.

The timely one-man drama about a generation of adults living for the weekend whilst still living at home will once again star Cartwright’s son, The Archers’ James Cartwright, as Shane, a young factory worker who navigates his place in the world amidst the backdrop of a booze-fuelled Friday night out in the North of England.

Directed by former National Theatre Associate Director Anthony Banks, the poignant and cutting commentary takes an apt look at a generation of young adults living in a time of zero-hour contracts and extortionate rent who have swapped unaffordable mortgage payments for booze, drugs and disposable relationships.

Penned by the writer behind the hugely successful drama The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice, RAZ premiered in Edinburgh last summer when it was hailed as “a beautifully written monologue performed with equal dexterity” in the Evening Standard’s five star review and was awarded an esteemed Fringe Frist Award.

London will have its chance to catch the drama in the intimate Trafalgar Studios 2 from 22 March to 16 April before the show embarks on a UK tour.
