Upstairs In The Sky, an interactive play for 3-5 year olds from Quicksilver Theatre, comes to the Arcola from 30 November to 20 December.
The play, written by Quicksilver artistic directors Guy Holland and Carey English, is a story of adventure, intrigue and loss that involves the young audience. In the prologue, two delivery men arrive at the theatre with a box addressed to the audience – a make-your-own-story kit. As they try to assemble the possible stories inside, they soon discover that they can’t agree on what tale to tell or what should happen next.
At the end of the show, children from the audience are invited on stage to play with the various props – including cubes, tubes, boxes and cloths of different shapes, sizes and textures – that they have just seen brought to life before them.
Founded by Holland in 1977, Quicksilver has developed a reputation for accessible and vibrant theatre for young people. It tours its productions across the UK and abroad.
