As Agyness Deyn makes her West End debut in The Leisure Society, Official London Theatre learns more about the iconic supermodel.
In François Archambault’s satire of the young rich, model Agyness Deyn makes her first foray onto the London stage. The disastrous dinner party which nosedives into debauchery finds the instantly recognisable catwalker playing the ‘friend-with-benefits’ of John Schwab’s Mark.
Eager to discover more about the new actress, Official London Theatre posed some probing questions:
What made you try theatre?
Reading The Leisure Society script, which is so intense and funny. Then speaking with Harry Burton, the director, and feeling support, understanding and a nurturing quality that gave me the desire to do it… And to have fun!
Where will you head after a performance?
Into the bath.
If you could create a fantasy production in which to star, who would you cast, who would direct and what would it be?
Harry Burton would direct Wait Until Dark, working with Gary Oldman.
Who or what has inspired you?
Joan of Arc. That would be my dream role too.
What is the finest performance you have seen?
Natalie Portman in the movie Leon, the Professional Uncut version. Wow!
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Live in the moment and savour the simple things.
Are you superstitious?
I believe in karma and putting out good vibes.
Free spirit or traditionalist?
Free spirit!
What do you consider your big break?
I don’t think it’s happened yet.
What has been your greatest extravagance?
Buying a home
If you could share one style tip with the world, what would it be?
Do not conform. Wear what makes you feel great.

Tokyo
What is your fondest childhood memory?
I was seven and in a tissue-less car with a runny nose and my sister Emily, aged three, offering her sleeve. I love her so deeply.
Do you have any regrets?
I think that whatever happens in life happens and you can learn from it, which is essential. So no regrets.
How would you like to be remembered?
For being real.
What do you do when you’re not performing, rehearsing or modelling?
I love to watch movies. Get back to nature, walking, hiking, riding my bicycle.
What book, film or album would you recommend to a friend?
Memories, Dreams And Reflections, the memoirs of Carl Jung.
If you could only eat one meal forever, what would it be?
Spag Bol.
What will always, without fail, bring a smile to your face?
Silly dancing and impression voices.
