Purple cow holds Cuban dance party

Published 14 February 2012

HAVANA RUMBA!, an intoxicating cocktail of rumba, salsa, rum and reggaeton, will dance its way onto this year’s E4 Udderbelly stage at the Southbank Centre.

The dance show, which will play as part of the al fresco festival from 30 May to 8 July, will feature performances from a host of Cuban dancers including Buena Vista Social Club’s Eric Turro.

Written and directed by the award-winning Toby Gough, HAVANA RUMBA! takes audiences on a musical journey from the music of the fifties all the way through to the contemporary music of Cuba today.

HAVANA RUMBA! joins The Vocal Orchestra to headline the E4 Udderbelly festival, which is held annually in a giant upside down purple cow on the South Bank.

This year’s bovine-based festival will also include performances from comedians Arthur Smith, Gina Yashere and Greg Davies, a range of children’s show and the musical Showstopper!, which is also playing at the Greenwich theatre next month.
