Priscilla to close on New Year’s Eve

First Published 2 September 2011, Last Updated 2 September 2011

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical will celebrate its 1,000th London performance this weekend before drawing its stay in the capital to a close at the end of December.

The Olivier Award-winning musical, which tells the story of three friends – two drag queens and a transsexual – making a road trip across the Australian outback, has been entertaining audiences at the Palace theatre with its outrageous costumes and camp disco classics since March 2009.

Former star Ray Meagher, best known as the longest serving performer on long-running Australian soap Home And Away, is to return for the production’s final months in October, playing helpful mechanic Bob.

Meagher joins a cast including original leading man Oliver Thornton, Royal Shakespeare Company regular Don Gallagher and Richard Grieve, whose CV boasts stints on both Home And Away and rival Aussie soap Neighbours.

News about what might follow Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical into the Palace theatre is yet to be announced.
