I’d Do Anything winner and current star of One Man, Two Guvnors Jodie Prenger is to host a West End gala celebrating the achievements of talented young people.
The DreamArts West End Musical Gala will be staged at the Playhouse theatre, home of Dreamboats And Petticoats, on 1 April, when around 100 children and young people aged eight to 19 will take to the stage to perform excerpts from Oliver!, Little Shop Of Horrors, Calamity Jane and Blood Brothers.
In Prenger they have a host who knows all about one of those shows, having gone through a torturous televised audition process to secure the role of Nancy in 2009’s West End production of Oliver! The Lancashire lass who won the hearts of the voting public is currently playing a less musical role in Richard Bean’s Olivier Award-nominated comedy One Man, Two Guvnors, which is keeping audiences rolling in the aisles at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
Speaking about the gala, Prenger said: “I’m thrilled to be supporting DreamArts and to share a West End stage with such a talented group of kids!”
DreamArts is a charity that works with young people from inner London to help them learn through the creative arts. DreamArts Chairman, Steve Potts, who is also the Commercial Director of Bill Kenwright Limited, explained: “By offering young people this unique opportunity to perform, write, stage manage and produce in the West End, DreamArts helps them realise their potential in a way they might otherwise not, and shine like the stars they are.”
