Play Goes Wrong at Trafalgar

First Published 17 April 2013, Last Updated 17 April 2013

The Play That Goes Wrong, which played at the Old Red Lion theatre earlier this year, will transfer to the Trafalgar Studio 2 later this month.

Playing from 30 April (press night 3 May) to 18 May, The Play That Goes Wrong is a fast-paced new comedy that focuses on the trials and tribulations of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society and tells the story of the company’s staging of 1920s murder mystery Murder At Haversham Manor.

The production’s transfer to the intimate Whitehall venue marks the latest in a series of transfers from the Old Red Lion theatre, which have also included the recently announced production of Brendan Cowell’s Happy New starring Lisa Dillon and 2012’s Mercury Fur.

The show is presented by Mischief Theatre, a company specialising in comedy writing, which since forming in 2008, has produced a number of both scripted and improvised shows including Lights! Camera! Improvise! and Mogic.

The opening of The Play That Goes Wrong will bridge the gap between forthcoming Trafalgar Studio 2 productions Third Finger, Left Hand, which will star Imogen Stubbs, and Happy New, the tale of two siblings abandoned in a chicken coop.
