Pilot Theatre’s Lord Of The Flies comes to Richmond theatre from 7 to 11 October as part of the production’s 10th anniversary tour.
William Golding’s novel Lord Of The Flies was first published in 1955 and remains a classic. It centres on a group of schoolboys who become marooned on an uninhabited island, the only survivors of a plane crash. With no rules, no adults and no structure to their new lives, it does not take long until the boys’ fragile sense of order begins to collapse. With the discovery of ‘the beast’, their games quickly take on a more sinister significance and this once well-behaved group of children turns into a bloodthirsty, murderous tribe.
Pilot Theatre’s stage adaptation is an aggressively choreographed piece of physical theatre which combines harsh lighting and a powerful contemporary soundtrack to create a nightmarish vision.
The cast of eight comprises Dominic Doughy, Davood Ghadami, Tony Haslath, Mark Knightley, Lachlan McCall, Elliot Quinn, Ben Sewell and Michael Sewell.
Following its visit to Richmond, Lord Of The Flies continues its national tour, with London dates including Artsdepot, from 2 to 6 December, and the Unicorn theatre, from 25 February to 2 March next year.
