American stage and screen actor Mandy Patinkin will bring his solo show Mandy Patinkin: In Concert to London’s Duke of York’s theatre for nine performances only from 8 to 18 January.
Patinkin made his name on Broadway with leading roles in shows including Evita, for which he won a 1980 Tony Award, and Sunday In The Park With George, which earned him another nomination four years later. His previous solo shows, which also include Celebrating Sondheim and Mamaloshen, have been presented on Broadway and around the world. Patinkin is also an Emmy-winning television actor in the US with credits including Chicago Hope and Criminal Minds. His films include The Princess Bride, Yentl, Ragtime and Dick Tracy.
Patinkin, who last performed in London at the Almeida theatre in 1996, now returns to the UK with Mandy Patinkin: In Concert, a musical celebration of the work of renowned composers including Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and Randy Newman.
The show’s brief run at the Duke of York’s fills the gap between No Man’s Land, which ends its run on 3 January, and a new production of Arthur Miller’s A View From The Bridge, starring Ken Stott and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, which starts previews on 24 January.
