Out Of Joint’s touring production of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good, which is currently playing at the St James theatre, has extended its run by a further two weeks.
Set in 1789, Wertenbaker’s drama about convicts landing in Australia and staging a play, which opens to the press next week, will now play until 23 March.
Directed by Out Of Joint’s Artistic Director Max Stafford-Clark, Our Country’s Good charts the story of Ralph Clark, the ambitious young lieutenant whose production of George Farquhar’s The Recruiting Officer is doomed to fail when he encounters all manner of problems, from coming under suspicion from his fellow officers to having a leading lady who is about to be hanged.
The production will be accompanied by a series of staged readings including The Recruiting Officer and a retrospective of Wertenbaker’s work.
