One of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, Othello, heads to Riverside Studios this October. The fast-paced production of the beloved tale will see Martins Imhangbe (Bridgerton) in the title role with live music composed by Michael C. Fox.
Othello is at the peak of his success: in life, in war, and in love until he finds himself utterly betrayed by the person he has trusted most: ‘honest’ Iago, appearing as one shape-shifting, corrosive force thrillingly dramatised by three performers: Michael C. Fox, Orlando James and Jeremy Neumark Jones.
This imaginative and fresh take on Othello conceived by director Sinéad Rushe will fully immerse audiences in the story, to understand how Iago is able to penetrate Othello’s mind so deeply.
The production has received investment from charity Stage One, and its producer Trish Wadley and General Manager Rebecca Gwyther have said, “Stage One has been a key supporter of Othello, helping the production through the Small Investment Fund as well as supporting our careers. The charity remains essential in providing knowledge and guidance to commercial producers, enabling the creation of exciting, new work and engaging new producers to expand and challenge our industry”.
Stage One has supported theatre producers through educational programmes and investment schemes. Society Of London Theatre, the non-profit organisation that runs Official London Theatre, has been an integral supporter of Stage One since it was established over 40 years ago.
