Oliver Tompsett and Debbie Kurup will give voice to some of Kander and Ebb’s best-loved hits when they star in musical revue The World Goes Round at the St James Studio in February.
Showcasing tracks from the song-writing duo’s extensive back catalogue, The World Goes Round will play at the St James Theatre’s intimate downstairs space from 2 to 7 February.
The show will mark Tompsett’s first London stage performance since his role as Galileo in We Will Rock You, but the musical theatre star is also well-known for his performances in fellow West End hits Rock Of Ages and Wicked.
His co-star Kurup, who was Olivier Award nominated in 2013 for her portrayal of Nicky Marron in The Bodyguard, will take to the stage of the Victoria venue following her forthcoming panto appearance in the Hackney Empire’s Jack And The Beanstalk.
The popular musical theatre duo is joined in The World Goes Round by Steffan Lloyd-Evans, Alexandra Da Silva and Sally Samad.
Celebrating the acclaimed double act behind hit musicals including Cabaret, Chicago, Flora The Red Menace and Kiss Of The Spider Woman, the revue will feature many of the pair’s most iconic numbers, with All That Jazz, Cabaret, Mr Cellophane and New York, New York all making an appearance in the show.
Featuring a live on-stage band, the production’s St James Studio run follows its premiere at Chelsea’s The Pheasantry and opens as part of an eclectic line-up of shows that includes Spielberg-inspired spin-off Dinosaur Park.
