London-based theatre company Pip Productions is launching a new theatre project for children and parents this autumn.
Pip Theatre is a weekly course held over 12 weeks in term-time in which children aged 6+ and their parents can take part together in creating a piece of theatre, leading up to a performance at the end of the course. Run by Henriette Baker, Artistic Director of Pip Productions, the aim of the course is to adapt, rehearse and perform a well-loved children’s story in an unusual and interesting place. This year’s production will be an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Elephant’s Child.
Baker commented: “I think anyone can enjoy being on stage even if it seems a fearsome challenge – in the rehearsal room nothing is impossible and nothing is ever a mistake. Each project is sure to leave unforgettable family memories. In our busy lives a few very strong, unforgettable experiences matter as much as all the time in the world for parents and children.”
Participants can join one of three separate courses being held on weekday evenings this autumn in locations throughout Southwark, Kensington and Chelsea – The Inn On The Green near Portobello Road on Mondays, the Nolias Gallery in Southwark on Wednesdays and Westbourne Studios near Westbourne Park on Thursdays. Courses kick off from 10 September onwards.
The 12-week term-time course costs £190 for one parent and one child, £240 for one parent and two or more children and £300 for two parents and two or more children. For further information and to book a place visit www.pipproductions.org or call 07841 651 200.
