Hannah Murray makes her professional stage debut as she joins the cast of That Face when it transfers to the Duke of York’s in May.
Murray is best known for playing troubled teen Cassie in the C4 Bristol-set drama Skins. In That Face, the 18-year-old plays Mia, the daughter in an affluent family which is spiralling out of control. This darkly comic play explores the reversal of the parent-child relationship in a family headed by Martha, Mia and Henry's alcohol and drug-dependent mother.
That Face is the debut play by young playwright Polly Stenham and premiered at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs in April last year. Stenham was named Most Promising Playwright at both the Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle awards, and the cast of the Royal Court production has been nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in this Sunday’s ceremony.
Joining the cast for this transfer to the Duke of York’s, Murray stars alongside Lindsay Duncan (Martha) and Matt Smith (Henry), both of whom recreate their performances from the Royal Court production, plus Catherine Steadman (Izzy) and Julian Wadham (Hugh). They are directed by Jeremy Herrin.
That Face plays at the Duke of York’s from 1 May to 5 July.
