Murder, Marple And Me, Philip Meeks’ acclaimed play about the relationship between Margaret Rutherford and Agatha Christie, will transfer to the Ambassadors theatre next month.
Playing a strictly limited run from 11 to 19 June, Murder, Marple And Me brings to the life the famous writer/actress duo responsible for bringing the detective novels to the screen at the West End venue situated just a stone’s throw away from the home of Christie’s The Mousetrap, which is currently celebrating its 60th year.
Directed by Stella Duffy, the play sees Janet Prince portray Rutherford, Christie and the Spinster in a physical, vocal and emotional performance that won her critical acclaim when it played at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012.
Set in the world of the British film industry, the production tells the dramatic story of two of the nation’s most influential women in the arts during the 1960s, revealing the scandal that led them to put aside their mutual distaste and develop a touching friendship.
Murder, Marple And Me will play just four performances at the Ambassadors theatre, as rhythmic sensation Stomp continues to command the Ambassadors’ stage with its mix of theatre, dance, comedy and percussion.
