Warning: come 20 April 2019, you’ll be crying “I want you back” because Motown The Musical will be concluding its glitzy run at the Shaftesbury Theatre. After three golden years, the show which tells the story of Berry Gordy and the birth of Motown Records will take its final West End bow before the theatre undergoes a major refurbishment.

The show which features over 50 classic Motown hits has been getting the audiences shimmying in their seats since it opened in February 2016. Since, it has celebrated 1330 performances and will go on a UK tour from October this year.

The sequin-filled show features a 15-piece orchestra that accompanies the incredible cast. It features songs like Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, I’ll Be There, Dancing In The Street, Stop! In The Name Of Love, My Girl, and I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

The autobiographical tale follows Berry Gordy after he borrows $800 from his family to start his own record label. The Motown founder broke barriers and records becoming a music mogul who changed the industry forever. Creating Motown Records led Berry to discover and launch the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, and many more. Motown The Musical uncovers the true story of the legendary record label that changed music history and created the soundtrack of a generation.

Motown The Musical stars Jay Perry and Natalie Kassanga as Berry Gordy and Diana Ross. David Albury plays Smokey Robinson, with Carl Spencer as Marvin Gaye.

You still have time for the Tony Award-nominated show to get you dancing in the street. So before Motown The Musical says “bye bye baby” to London on 20 April 2019, book your tickets.
