The Young Vic’s production of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House has proved so popular on The Cut that the show’s run has added an extra week.
The classic drama, which stars Hattie Morahan as wife-with-a-secret Nora, will now run at the Waterloo venue for an extra week, closing on 4 August.
Ibsen’s 19th century classic, which was famously controversial when first performed because of the stance it takes against the then social norm, opened to strong reviews earlier this week.
The play follows the plight of Nora, a wife and mother who has previously been forced to secretly take a loan in order to save her husband’s life. As the exposure of the truth is threatened, Nora’s life begins to unravel, leading to a moment of clarity and a realisation of what she must do.
A Doll’s House is the final production in the Young Vic’s summer. The youthful theatre kicks off its autumn line up with another classic, Three Sisters, which opens in September, before it revives two of its most popular recent shows The Changeling and Going Dark.
