Former Coronation Street and EastEnders star Michelle Collins will star in a new comedy, My Dad’s Gap Year, at the Park Theatre from next month.
The knockabout comedy, which centres on a dad in mid-life freefall who takes his teenage son on a wild adventure to Thailand, is directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair, and will also star Adam Lannon, Alex Britt, Max Percy and Victoria Gigante.
The show will also run a full supporting programme and outreach activity, including two post-show talks each week during the run, as well as a series of engagement workshops for young people from the LGBTQ+ community to create new work.

Tom Wright’s ‘My Dad’s Gap Year’ is by turns heartfelt and wickedly funny. When Dave (Lannon), a dad gripped by mid-life crisis, takes his repressed, gay son William (Britt) abroad to lose his virginity, little did he expect to find love of his own. Meanwhile, William meets the charming Matias (Percy), who takes him on a journey of self-discovery, sex, drugs, and everything in between. Collins will play William’s mother Cath, who herself embarks on a journey of discovering how to be single again.
With gay love, straight love, trans love, buddy love and father-son love at its core, My Dad’s Gap Year is a dizzying drama of drinking games, beer bellies, newfound freedom and midlife madness.
The show plays from Wednesday 30 January 2019 – Saturday 23 February.
