London Musical Theatre Orchestra have announced further casting for the 2017 production of their spectacular concert version of A Christmas Carol, with Michael Xavier, Lucie Jones, Hugh Maynard and Gemma Sutton all joining Robert Lindsay in the show.
The multi award-winner Lindsay will play the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, alongside musical theatre favourites Michael (Olivier Award nominated for his role in Into The Woods) as Bob Cratchit, Lucie (Les Misérables) as Emily/The Ghost of Christmas Future, Hugh (Disney’s The Lion King) as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Gemma (Gypsy) as the Ghost of Christmas Past.
The production returns by overwhelming popular demand to the Lyceum Theatre in London after a sell-out performance last year, with two performances of the festive favourite at 7.30pm on Monday 11th and Monday 18 December.
The London Musical Theatre Orchestra’s production sees Charles Dickens’ classic novel A Christmas Carol get the full Broadway treatment by the award-winning team of Alan Menken (Beauty And The Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin), Lynn Ahrens (Anastasia, Ragtime, Seussical) and Mike Ockrent (Crazy For You, Me And My Girl).
The joyous musical extravaganza ran every Christmas for ten years at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where The New York Times called it “a tonic for adults, and for children a transfixing journey”.
The London Musical Theatre Orchestra is conducted by founder Freddie Tapner, who said: “I’m delighted to have Robert and Hugh back with LMTO for this year’s performances of A Christmas Carol. Our audience loved them last year, and I know they will love them again this year.”
“It’s a real treat to welcome Lucie, Gemma and Michael to the LMTO family – I can’t wait to see what they will do with these amazing Alan Menken songs.”
