The Unicorn theatre has announced some extra special, creepy crawly events to take place alongside its forthcoming show Mister Holgado, a dark grisly tale about a boy and his invisible tiger friend.
Dark and grisly it may be, but Christopher William Hill’s show also promises to be hilarious in the spirit of black comedy genius Roald Dahl and the popular Lemony Snicket series.
Playing from 28 March and suitable for children aged eight and older, the story revolves around little Conrad Van der Bosch who claims he has an invisible tiger called Sigmund hiding on his wardrobe. His child-psychologist father sees the lie as a deliberate act of juvenile defiance and in an attempt to terrify Conrad into admitting that there never was an invisible tiger, creates the terrifying figure of Mister Holgado, a child-eating monster who is apparently hiding inside Conrad’s wardrobe.
Audiences will have the opportunity to meet the man behind these spooky and funny inventions, and the author of Osbert The Avenger following the matinee performance on 27 April.
If you’re looking for a more creepy activity, on 18 April there will be a free event held in the foyer of the theatre to learn all about beetles from a bona fide creepy crawly expert.
