The Theatre Royal Haymarket production of Waiting For Godot, which stars Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, has extended its London run until 9 August.
One of the hottest tickets in London this year, the tale of two tramps, which also boasts Simon Callow and Ronald Pickup in its cast, had been expected to close two weeks earlier on 26 July.
Samuel Beckett’s most famous play, in which Vladimir (Stewart) and Estragon (McKellen) clown, joke and argue to pass the time while waiting for the arrival of their mysterious acquaintance, opened at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 6 May following a sell-out regional tour.
The first play in director Sean Mathias’s season as Artistic Director of the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company, Waiting For Godot is followed in September by Samuel Adamson’s new stage adaptation of Truman Capote’s famous novella Breakfast At Tiffany’s. The autumn production will see Anna Friel return to the London stage to play heroine Holly Golightly.
