Tim McInnerny is to join Eamonn Walker in Othello at Shakespeare’s Globe this summer, along with Zoe Tapper and Lorraine Burroughs.
McInnerny, who is still widely recognised for playing Lord Percy and Captain Darling in the 1980s television series Blackadder, has had an extensive career on screen and on stage. In the capital his theatrical credits include Comedians at the Lyric, Mappa Mundi at the National and The Lady From The Sea at the Almeida in 2003, while on screen he has appeared in the film Notting Hill, BBC drama Spooks and the mini series The Line Of Beauty.
Tapper was last seen on a London stage alongside Joseph Fiennes in Epitaph For George Dillon at the Comedy in 2005. Her television work includes the film Stage Beauty and a modern BBC television adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Burroughs has appeared on television in Wide Sargasso Sea, All About George and Down To Earth. Her London stage credits include The War Next Door and Fabulation at the Tricycle and Anna In The Tropics at the Hampstead.
As previously announced, Walker is lined up to play the title role in Othello, which is being performed at the modern Shakespeare’s Globe for the very first time. The British actor has been based in the US for the past seven years, where he starred in US television series Oz and the legal drama Justice. Walker previously played Othello in Andrew Davies’s television adaptation in 2001.
Othello is directed by American director Wilson Milam, with designs by Dick Bird and music by Shakespeare In Love composer Stephen Warbeck.
Othello begins performances on 4 May.
