Singer and X Factor winner Joe McElderry has joined the stellar line-up of 2012’s BBC Children In Need’s POP Goes The Musical.
The annual event sees pop stars perform special curtain calls at some of London’s best loved shows, with McElderry set to perform at the Michael Jackson theatrical concert Thriller Live on 15 November, alongside Grammy Award-winning musician Macy Gray and newcomer girl band Stooshe.
The singer, whose fourth studio album Here’s What I Believe was released last month, said: “I am so excited to be performing in such an acclaimed West End musical, celebrating the King of Pop – Michael Jackson!” McElderry revealed he would be singing his own version of the legendary musician’s She’s Out Of My Life, describing the event as: “such an honour. I can’t wait!”
The musical trio’s performances will mark the final date in 2012’s POP Goes The Musical, following Alexandra Burke’s Les Misérables performance in September and Geri Halliwell and Blue’s appearances in Singin’ In The Rain and Jersey Boys respectively earlier this month.
Tickets for the special Thriller Live charity performance can be purchased exclusively at www.lastminute.com/pudsey with 50% of the £80 ticket going to BBC Children In Need.
As well as the chance to watch McElderry, Gray and Stooshe perform after seeing the show from a prime seat, your ticket will also include a signed programme, Pudsey bear toy, complementary drink and access to a VIP after show reception hosted by the famous bear himself.
This is the second time McElderry has made musical news this week, following the announcement that the singer will make his West End debut just three days prior to his Thriller Live appearance in a one off performance of The Who’s rock opera Tommy at the Prince Edward theatre in aid of the Pure Theatre Development Fund. He will be joined in the cast by Hannah Jane Fox, Daniel Boys, Zoe Birkett, David Hunter, Glenn Carter and Siubhan Harrison.
