Glengarry Glen Ross, currently previewing at the Apollo, has pushed its opening night back two days to Friday 12 October after Anthony Flanagan withdrew from the production.
Flanagan, who has left the David Mamet revival due to personal reasons, has been replaced in the role of John Williamson by Peter McDonald. The actor joins a cast that comprises Jonathan Pryce, Aidan Gillen, Paul Freeman, Matthew Marsh, Tom Smith and Shane Attwooll.
McDonald’s previous London stage experience includes Exiles and The Aristocrats at the National, Resurrection Blues at the Old Vic, Days Of Wine And Roses and A Lie Of The Mind at the Donmar Warehouse and The Lieutenant Of Inishmore at the Garrick. He has worked frequently on television in serials including Spooks and Green Wing.
Glengarry Glen Ross, which premiered at the National in 1983, is set in an office of cut-throat Chicago salesman. Pitched against each other, each will do anything, legal or otherwise, to sell the most real estate. In this new production Pryce and Gillen lead the cast playing Shelly Levene and Richard Roma, the roles taken by Jack Lemmon and Al Pacino in the 1992 film adaptation.
Glengarry Glen Ross is booking until 12 January.
