“Love can tell a million stories” – and boy do we have love for this news! Full casting has been announced for the upcoming European premiere of Falsettos. And it’s set to star Matt Cardle, Daniel Boys, Laura Pitt-Pulford – and more!
Daniel will lead the cast as Marvin, with Matt and Laura set to play Mendel and Trina respectively. They’ll perform opposite musical favourites Natasha J Barnes as Cordelia, Gemma Knight-Jones as Charlotte, and Oliver Savile as Whizzer.
Matt is best known for his recent stage appearances in Jesus Christ Superstar, Memphis and Strictly Ballroom, having won The X Factor in 2010. Daniel’s recent credits include The Boys In The Band at the Park Theatre; Laura’s feature Little Miss Sunshine (Arcola Theatre) and Flowers For Mrs Harris (Chichester); Natasha starred in Funny Girl (Menier); Gemma in The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time (West End); and Oliver in Wicked (West End).
Falsettos is the double Tony Award-winning story of a modern family: a gay man Marvin, his wife, his lover, his soon-to-be-bar-mitzvahed son, their psychiatrist, and the lesbian neighbours next door. By turns hilarious and poignant, the show is a brilliant exploration of family dynamics under the spectre of the AIDs crisis.
The musical first premiered on Broadway in 1992, where it received seven Tony Award nominations, winning Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. The show has music, lyrics and book by William Finn (In Trousers, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and book by James Lapine (Sunday In The Park With George, Into The Woods).
Falsettos will play at The Other Palace between 30 August and 23 November. Tickets are available through the musical’s website.
