Downton Abbey’s Matt Barber will play Pixie Lott’s on stage love interest in the forthcoming West End run of Breakfast At Tiffany’s this summer.
Barber will play Fred opposite Lott’s Holly Golightly in Richard Greenberg’s adaptation of Truman Capote’s legendary novella at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 30 June.
Best known for playing Atticus Aldridge in ITV’s period drama hit Downton Abbey, Barber will follow stage roles in Savage Beauty at the St James Theatre and Pygmalion at The Old Vic to play the young Louisiana writer who falls in love with the vivacious and, unfortunately for Fred, completely elusive Golightly.
Barber and popstar turned actor Lott will be joined in the cast by London stage regulars including Trollied star Victor McGuire (Chicago, West End), Robert Calvert (Great Britain, NT), Naomi Cranston (Man And Superman, NT), Tim Frances (The 39 Steps, West End), Melanie La Barrie (Matilda The Musical, West End) and Sevan Stephan (Imagine This, Lord Of The Rings, Guys And Dolls in the West End).
The cast will be completed by Charlie De Melo, Katy Allen, Andy Watkins and Andrew Joshi, who has worked extensively at the Curve Theatre, where the show’s director Nikolai Foster is Artistic Director.
Commenting on the casting, Foster said, “It’s a testament to the beauty of Capote’s imagination, the extraordinary characters he created and Greenberg’s faithful adaptation, that alongside Pixie and Matt, we have assembled such an accomplished company of actors to bring this dazzling play to life.”
Breakfast At Tiffany’s will premiere at Leicester’s Curve Theatre before heading off on a UK tour prior to its West End run, which is currently booking to 17 September.
