Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita starring Marti Pellow will re-open the newly refurbished Dominion Theatre, playing a limited season from 16 September to 1 November.

Starring Pellow as Che and Madalena Alberto in the title role, the production arrives at the venue that has been home to Queen musical We Will Rock You for the past 12 years following a national tour.

Featuring some of the greatest songs in musical theatre including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night Of A Thousand Stars and You Must Love Me, Evita charts the incredible journey of Eva Perón from the slums of Argentina through her tenure as First Lady to Argentine dictator Juan Perón until her tragic death in 1952.

Best known as the lead singer of Scottish pop group Wet Wet Wet, Pellow brings his performance as the Marxist revolutionary to the West End following his performance in the musical on tour. His other theatre credits include starring roles in productions of Blood Brothers, The Witches Of Eastwick, Jekyll And Hyde and Chicago.

His touring co-star Alberto has previously appeared on the London stage in productions including Zorro at the Garrick Theatre and Aladdin at the Old Vic.

Evita will open at the Dominion Theatre prior to the venue’s festive offering White Christmas, which sees Olivier Award nominee Tom Chambers and Aled Jones take to the stage for the show’s West End premiere from 8 November to 3 January.
