Members of the company of hit West End show War Horse are taking part in a Children’s Literature Festival at the Imperial War Museum this week.
The festival, which runs until 21 August, explores stories of war and conflict and is based on the themes within the museum’s Once Upon A Wartime exhibition. The festival’s programme of interactive sessions and workshops includes appearances from much-loved children’s authors Michelle Magorian, Bernard Ashley and Martin Brown, along with hands-on sessions hosted by the National Theatre and Polka theatre.
On 17 August children can make their own war horse in a workshop led by professionals from the National Theatre, which created the award-winning production of War Horse. On 21 August there’s a chance to join Polka theatre for a drama workshop and learn how to bring a book to life on stage.
Official London Theatre readers can get two for one tickets for the Make Your Own War Horse event (10:00-12:45, 17 August) and the Polka theatre workshop (10:30-13:30, 21 August) on advance telephone bookings. To claim the offer, call +44 (0)20 7416 5439 and quote reference TFB2011.*
