Macabre magician heads to Waterloo Vaults

Master Of The Macabre, a new show from unique magician Benedict Barber, will be staged in the atmospheric surroundings of the Vaults Theatre, Waterloo, this autumn.

The show, which promises to leave audiences “wide-eyed with astonishment” and brought “to the edge of theirs seats with fear”, runs from 7 October to 1 November, taking in that most frighteningly magical of days, Halloween.

Master Of The Macabre is the first stage show by street magician Barber. Using his own brand of dark, twisted magic it will take audiences on an autobiographical journey, from discovering magic at five years old, to the tricks he used to scare teachers and pupils alike at school and the shocking experience that shaped both his on and off stage life.

The show has been written with Royal Court Young Writers’ Programme graduate Matthew Stradling and is directed by magician/director Tony Middleton.

Master Of The Macabre is the latest magic show to announce a London run, following big scale West End productions Impossible, which begins its summer run at the Noël Coward Theatre later this month, The Illusionists, which runs at the Shaftesbury Theatre from November, and the return of Derren Brown, also in the autumn.
