Lorraine Stanley will lead the cast of Roy Williams’ new play Wildefire when it premieres at the Hampstead Theatre next month.
The police drama, which tells the story of a female officer nicknamed Wildefire whose professional conduct reaches fever pitch when a fellow bobby is involved in a serious incident on the beat, will play from 6 to 29 November.
Directed by Maria Aberg, the production explores the maelstrom of urban policing and the mental and physical impact it has on the people we rely on to keep the peace.
Made In Dagenham star Stanley, whose London stage credits include The Frontline at Shakespeare’s Globe, is joined in the cast by Cian Barry, who joins the production following recent performances in The Love Girl And The Innocent at Southwark Playhouse and the West End production of Our Boys.
Royal Shakespeare Company regular Ricky Champ, Fraser James (Mogadishu, Lyric Hammersmith), Simon Manyonda (King Lear, National Theatre) and Sharlene Whyte (Nut, NT Shed) also join the cast alongside Eric Kofi Abrefa, Danny Dalton, Sammy Hayman, Tara Hodge and Noof Ousellam.
Wildefire will open at the Swiss Cottage venue following the current run of Theresa Rebeck’s Seminar, starring Roger Allam, which opened on Wednesday and plays until 1 November.
