Headlong and the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre announced the casting of Jodie McNee and Danny Lee Wynter in Faustus: That Damned Woman. Jodie McNee (Venice Preserved, Anatomy of a Suicide) will play the title role of Johanna Faustus and Danny Lee Wynter (The Maids, Comus) the role of Mephistopheles.
Directed by Caroline Byrne, Chris Bush’s (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) re imagining of the classic myth sees Faustus re-imagined as a woman, and is the first work to be commissioned as part of Headlong and the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre’s new committment to commissioning and producing work by women playwrights.
Casting has been confirmed for Charlotte Jones’ comedy Martha, Josie And The Chinese Elvis. Sioned Jones plays Martha, Charlie Bence plays Brenda-Marie, Kellie Batchelor plays Josie, Andrew P Stephen plays Lionel, Matt Lim plays Timothy and Jessica Forrest plays Louise.
Winner of of the 1998 Pearson Best Play Award, this is the play’s first ever London run. With dominatrixes and Elvis impersonators this might not be your classic Christmas production, but it’s certainly a great alternative festive treat.
