Acclaimed musical theatre writers Richard Hough and Ben Morales Frost have created this gender-swapped twist on the timeless poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, which also inspired the Dukas symphony that memorably featured in the Disney film Fantasia. Park Theatre to reopen in 2021 with new ghost thriller When Darkness Falls

The producers of new spine-chilling ghost story, When Darkness Falls, are delighted to announce a new run at Park Theatre, London, from Wednesday 24 February until Saturday 13 March. The spine-chilling show was due to play a limited season at The Union Theatre in London this November, but was unable to open due to the Government’s decision to close theatres in lockdown 2.0. Written by James Milton and Paul Morrissey and directed by Paul Morrissey, Will Barton will play John Blondel and Alex Phelps The Speaker. The audience will be socially distanced.
Set on the island of Guernsey, John Blondel, a history teacher, runs the local Historical Society. Tonight, as part of the Society’s weekly vlog, a young paranormal expert has been invited to give a talk on the island’s paranormal history. As John films, the Speaker’s stories – many of which are based on true events – unfold and delve into dark pasts, revealing disturbing truths and unforgettable terrors.
The theatre will be reopening its doors in the New Year, with socially distanced shows in both auditoria: a revival of comedy thriller CORPSE! in Park90 from Thursday 7 – Saturday 30 January; COFFEE, CROISSANT AND A CONCERT, a Sunday series of chamber music concerts throughout January in Park200, followed by the premiere of When Darkness Falls, in Park200.

Award-winning comedian Rob Brydon extends UK Tour including 2 nights at the London Palladium in 2021
Rob Brydon and his eight-piece band will take to the road next year with his new show, Rob Brydon – A Night Of Songs & Laughter, marking the first time Brydon has created a show that includes songs and music as well as his acclaimed wit and comedy. New dates have been announced which will take the tour through Autumn 2021, including Rob’s first solo performances in the West End for 10 years to come at The London Palladium on 17 – 18 November 2021.
With songs from Tom Waits to Tom Jones, and Guys and Dolls to Elvis (and almost everything in between), A Night of Songs & Laughter tells Rob’s personal musical journey from South Wales to the West End and beyond. Audiences can expect Rob’s usual warmth and humour as he regales them with hilarious tales from his distant and recent past.
Rob commented: “I’m so excited to get back on stage with this show. Touring with this incredible band of musicians is such a delight. I’m looking forward to getting around the country next year and bring some much needed music and laughter.”

Due to public demand, an extension to the run of Overflow at the Bush Theatre has been announced
Theatre is back with a bang in Shepherd’s Bush, as the Bush Theatre opens its first production following lockdown, Overflow by acclaimed writer and performer Travis Alabanza. Due to public demand, the run will be extended by two weeks. The production, which has its press night this week, will now end on 16 January 2021.
Performed by transgender actress, writer, and poet Reece Lyons and directed by Debbie Hannan, Overflow is billed as a hilarious and devastating tour of women’s bathrooms.
Overflow is made possible thanks to the support of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund, which will enable the venue to produce live theatre over the next six months.
Lynette Linton, Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre said: “It was clear when the first week sold out in a matter of days, that people are yearning for live entertainment and we’re buzzing that so many London locals are coming out to support us. ‘Overflow’ is a thrilling play from one of the country’s most talented artists and we’re so proud of the incredible team of freelance creatives that have brought it to life. Intermissions returns: An online experience hosted by Alice Fearn, feat. a line-up of West End stars for a one off Christmas special.
Brace yourselves theatre fans, we’ve got another virtual theatre fix that we’re certain you’ll want to tune into!
Following the success of the Intermissions Summer Edition, the team returns with a sparkly Christmas offering to get you into the festive spirit. With a date for a full West End return still uncertain, performers and creatives alike continue to take to the online world to stay creative and keep theatre alive. Intermissions: Winter Edition comes direct from Fiction Studios in the heart of London and will feature performances from West End stars (Samantha Barks, Idris Kargbo, Tosh Wanogho-Maud, Emma Lindars), new graduates (accompanied by Nick Barstow and Directed by Kirk Jameson), interviews and so much more. The show will be streaming on 20 -21 December with a three-camera setup, adhering to all government guidelines and social-distancing.
Creator, Alice Fearn says: “Our summer series of Intermissions was a huge emotional lift for me and all of the team working on it. Raising money for charity, showcasing talent both established and emerging, bringing attention to the struggles our industry and its workforce are going through, all whilst bringing back music to our audiences. There was no way we couldn’t do a Christmas special and bring some festive joy to our Intermissions viewers. I couldn’t be more excited to share this episode and our amazing guests”

Barbican announces line-up for Live from The Barbican in Spring 2021

The Barbican has today announced line-up details for its newly curated spring concert series as part of Live from the Barbican. The new series of concerts will be accessible for a reduced, socially distanced live audience in the Barbican Hall and online for a global digital audience through a livestream on a pay-per-view basis.
Following a successful series during autumn 2020, which will continue this Christmas, Live from the Barbican in spring runs from 10 January – 2 April 2021. Featuring an eclectic mix of artists across different genres, all reflecting the wide spectrum of the Barbican’s distinct music offer, programme highlights will include:
- Pianist Benjamin Grosvenor returns to the Barbican Hall with a vibrant programme including works by Chopin, Ravel, Liszt and Ginastera (Sun 10 Jan)
- British artist, composer & songwriter Moses Boyd performs material from his new Mercury nominated album Dark Matter (Sun 17 Jan)
- Kate Stables’ band This is The Kit present their new album Off Off On (Sat 23 Jan)
- British folk legend Shirley Collins returns to the Centre following the release of her latest album Heart’s Ease (Mon 15 Feb)
- GoGo Penguin present material from their new self-titled album (Sun 21 Feb)
- 12 Ensemble are joined on stage by Anna Meredith and Jonny Greenwood, performing in their own works (Thu 25 Feb)
- Barbican Associate Ensemble Academy of Ancient Music with director Richard Egarr perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with violinist Rachel Podger (Tue 9 Mar)

Tickets are £20 – £30 for live audiences in the Barbican Hall (if Government guidance continues to permit live audiences) and £12.50 to access the livestreams or to re-watch within a 48 hour-window, once the ticket purchase has gone through.
Tickets for all events will go on sale to Barbican Patrons on Wednesday 9 December, Barbican Members on Thursday 10 December and on general sale on Friday 11 December. Please find information about how to book tickets here.
Discounted tickets at £5 are available to 14 – 25-year-olds through the Young Barbican scheme and over 100 free stream passes are being offered to communities in London, Manchester, Harlow and Norfolk, through the Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning’s work in schools and communities.
The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), the Barbican’s Resident Orchestra, also returns to the Barbican Hall for a programme of concerts from 7January, with artists including music director Sir Simon Rattle and guest soloists featuring Leonidas Kavakos, Mitsuko Uchida and Barbara Hannigan.
