Fans of Jane Austen will be excited to hear that the hilarious Austentatious is now on sale!
Performing at the Fortune Theatre from 24 February, the award-winning hit will show you Austen as you’ve never seen her before. Featuring lost masterpieces with comedic improvisation and some of the country’s sharpest comic performers, you can expect live music, flamboyant costumes, and bucket loads of mischief.
Previous masterpieces include Bath to the Future, and The Sixth Sense and Sensibility – it’s no wonder this gem has had multiple sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and is coming to the West End off the back of five national tours! The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) today announced the winter 2020 season.
Highlights include:
- The Magician’s Elephant (29 October to 17 January 2021) – This new musical adaption by Nancy Harris and Marc Teitler is based on the international best-selling novel by Kate DiCamillo. Directed by Sarah Tipple, it tells the story of an orphan who lives a frugal life in the lonely town of Baltese. When a magician conjures an elephant from the sky one day, the animal sets off a chain of remarkable events that change Baltese forever. Peter is forced to look at the quest of his life and overturns everything he ever thought he knew and discovers that happiness can come from the most unexpected places.
- The War Of The Roses (10 October to 2 January 2021) – Directed by Owen Horsley with Gregory Doran, this epic staging covers all three parts of Henry VI across two incredible performances that explore the brutal struggle for the English Crown.
- First Encounters With Shakespeare (24 to 26 September) – The RSC series returns in September with a new production of Twelfth Night, directed and edited by Robin Belfield.

Shakespeare’s Globe today announced the full cast for the 2020 Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank production of Macbeth.
Directed by Cressida Brown, this full-scale production is created especially for young people and will open on 26 February to 25 March. The cast will include: Mara Allen (as Witch and Fleance), Aidan Cheng (as Malcolm), Elly Condron (as Lady Macbeth), Molly Logan (as Witch and Porter), Jessica Murain (as Witch and Lady Macduff), Samuel Oatley (as Banquo), Ekow Quartey (as Macbeth), Dickon Tyrrell (Duncan), Jack Wilkinson (as Macduff) and Amanda Wright (as Ross).
