Casting Announced for The Mirror and the Light
Producers Playful Productions and the Royal Shakespeare Company have announced initial casting for The Mirror And The Light in the West End.
The third and final novel in the Wolf Hall trilogy has been adapted for the West End stage by Dame Hilary Mantel and Ben Miles. Jeremy Herrin, who was nominated for an Olivier Award, a Tony Award and won the Evening Standard Award for the first two productions, returns to direct. The world premiere will run at the Gielgud Theatre from Thursday 23rd September for a strictly limited season until Sunday 28th November, with an Opening Night on Wednesday 6th October.

As previously announced Ben Miles will return to his role as Cromwell to complete the trilogy. Nathaniel Parker joins him, resuming his Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award nominated role as Henry VIII. The full cast of 23 will be the biggest yet in the series, with 13 actors announced today, five of whom – Miles, Parker, Nicholas Boulton (Duke of Suffolk), Matt Pidgeon (Stephen Gardiner) and Giles Taylor (Archbishop Cranmer) – return to their roles in the earlier plays.

Actors joining the production for the first time include Rosanna Adams (Anna of Cleves), Paul Adeyefa (Christophe), Aurora Burghart (Elizabeth Seymour), Terique Jarrett (Gregory Cromwell), Jordan Kouamé (Rafe Sadler), Geoffrey Lumb (Thomas Wriothesley), Olivia Marcus (Jane Seymour) Tony Turner (Kingston), Leo Wan (Richard Riche) and Nicholas Woodeson (Duke of Norfolk). Rosanna Adams, Aurora Burghart and Jordan Kouamé are making their professional debuts. Full casting is still to be announced.
The play is the concluding chapter of Mantel’s multi award-winning novels about the rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell, all commissioned and developed for the stage by Playful Productions. The acclaimed Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies were hailed as landmark and must-see theatrical events and sold out their London runs in 2014 after premiering at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Disney Pop Up shop in Covent Garden is now open!
From 22 July to 30 August, in Covent Garden – the heart of London’s West End – and bigger than ever before, there will be a Disney on Stage Summer Pop-Up Experience celebrating the wealth of Disney titles produced for the stage. The free-to-access Pop-Up, open to fans of all ages, features Disney shows such as Frozen, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin.
Located in the historic Carriage Hall on Floral Street, this is the third time that Disney Theatrical Productions, working with Covent Garden, will create a unique space that is a celebration of the very best of Disney in the West End, across the UK and on Broadway.
Visitors will go on an enchanting journey through some of Disney’s most iconic worlds, with new things to see and explore with every step. First, visitors will travel to early-1900s London with Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins and witness the delights of Mrs Corry’s Sweet Shop, where they can enjoy some craft activities and discover how to spell the longest word they’ve ever heard. Guests will experience the magic carpet ride of Aladdin’s Cave of Wonders, with the chance to pose with the Genie’s Lamp and travel back to a retro era with classic Aladdin arcade games – although there is no magic lamp to be won here! The tale as old as time continues with Beauty and the Beast, featuring the legendary enchanted rose.
You will also have the opportunity to view iconic masks, puppets and costumes from the Tony® Award-winning The Lion King, getting a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into the stunning stagecraft of this much loved production, now in its 22nd year in London. It’s time to open up the gates on the long-awaited West End premiere of Frozen, where visitors will have the chance to experience the chilly heights of Elsa’s ice palace, and the majestic delights of Arendelle Castle. For a limited time only, there will be the opportunity to see Elsa’s stunning Ice Dress up-close and marvel at this iconic gown, soon to be worn on stage.

Hampstead Theatre announces further live productions including Shelagh Stephenson’s The Memory Of Water
Hampstead Theatre is delighted to announce further live productions for 2021. Shelagh Stephenson’s Olivier Award-winning play The Memory of Water will run from 3 September until 16 October 2021. Alice Hamilton will direct this poignant and painfully funny comedy about conflicting memories, life and loss. The play originally premiered at the theatre in 1996. Hamilton returns to Hampstead Theatre after her recent 60th anniversary production of The Dumb Waiter and the Olivier-nominated Every Day I Make Greatness Happen and Paradise.
The World Premiere of Malindadzimu by Mufaro Makubika will also run from 17 September until 30 October 2021 at Hampstead Downstairs. This delicate, witty and epic new play, which explores a mother and daughter’s search for belonging and their struggle with a multicultural heritage, will be directed by Monique Touko who will be making her professional directing debut.
Casting announced for the world premiere of MUM
Francesca Moody Productions, Soho Theatre and Theatre Royal Plymouth in association with Popcorn Group are delighted to announce Sophie Melville, Denise Black and Cat Simmons will appear in the world premiere of MUM.
This provocative and unflinching portrayal of early motherhood and mental health, written by Olivier award-winning playwright Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia, The Globe/ West End) and directed by Abigail Graham (soon to also direct Aladdin at Lyric Hammersmith) will run at Theatre Royal Plymouth from 30 September – 16 October before transferring to Soho Theatre from 20 October – 20 November.
