Little Shop Of Horrors has extended its current run in the West End. The musical tale of a blood-loving plant is now booking at the Duke of York's until 1 September, extending its run by three months.
This production of Little Shop Of Horrors was first seen at the Menier Chocolate Factory in November 2006, when it received acclaim from both critics and theatregoers. The cast, which includes Sheridan Smith, Paul Keating, Barry James and Mike McShane, transferred with the production. Only Jasper Britton left, being replaced by Alistair McGowan as psychotic dentist Orin Scrivello.
The B movie-esque story revolves around florist's assistant Seymour, who is in love with fellow assistant Audrey and, in his spare time, cultivates an exotic plant which he names Audrey II. The plant, however, has a taste for blood. As it grows bigger, so does its appetite.
Theatre designer David Farley collaborated with animatronic pioneers ARTEM to create the all-new haemoglobin-gobbling herb, Audrey II, for this production. Farley won a host of awards for his previous design work on the Menier Chocolate Factory's production of Little Shop Of Horrors.
