Musical theatre fans, if you’ve not already heard the buzz about town, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning legend Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In The Heights) has added another feat to his ever-growing list with his directorial debut, tick, tick…BOOM!
tick, tick…BOOM! played in selected UK cinemas from 12 November before streaming on Netflix from 19 November and tells the story of an aspiring theatre composer who spends his days waiting at a New York diner and evenings writing what he dreams will be the next big American musical. On the cusp of turning 30, he experiences a quarter-life crisis, feeling the pressure to navigate his way through love, friendship and to create something spectacular before time runs out.
Written by Steven Levenson (winner of 2017 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Dear Evan Hansen), the film is based on the semi-autobiographical musical of the same name by Jonathan Larson, the revolutionary creator of Rent. You know what that means? Iconic music, without a doubt!
tick, tick…BOOM! stars the Olivier Award-nominated and Tony Award-winning Andrew Garfield (Angels In America, The Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men series) Alexandra Shipp (Straight Outta Compton), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical movie series, Netflix’s The Princess Switch, Broadway musical Gigi), Robin de Jesús (In The Heights) plus many more big names!
