Let It Be returns for West End summer

First Published 15 May 2014, Last Updated 1 August 2018

Let It Be, the hit theatrical concert celebrating The Beatles’ incredible catalogue of legendary music, will return this summer for a third West End run.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the London premiere of the world-conquering pop group’s film A Hard Day’s Night, Let It Be will bring fans’ favourite numbers to the stage at the Garrick Theatre for a strictly limited run from 9 July to 21 September.

Showcasing the music of one of the most iconic bands in the history of music, Let It Be takes audiences on a journey following the four Liverpudlian boys rise to fame from humble beginnings playing at the Cavern Club to the heights of Beatlemania and their later studio masterpieces.

Today’s West End announcement follows the show’s recent popular 18 week tour of UK and Ireland, which Let It Be’s Producer Jamie Hendry described as “proving the huge popularity of the music of The Beatles.”

London audiences certainly agreed with this statement when the show premiered in September 2012 at the Prince of Wales Theatre. Following its success at the venue it transferred to the Savoy Theatre and continued to entertain audiences until February this year.

Writing about the show’s opening night in 2012, Official London Theatre said: “From the more raucous I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Twist And Shout to acoustic classics Yesterday and Blackbird, Let It Be is a journey through the catalogue of a truly legendary band, set to the backdrop of huge political and social change.”

Casting for Let It Be is yet to be announced. The show will follow Twelve Angry Men into the Garrick Theatre. The courtroom drama will come to the end of its extended run on 14 June.
