David Bowie and Enda Walsh’s musical Lazarus will receive its UK premiere at the King’s Cross Theatre this autumn.
Directed by the acclaimed Olivier and Tony Award-winning Ivo van Hove, Lazarus is a collaboration between the late musical icon Bowie and the esteemed playwright Walsh, writer of the stage adaptation of Once.
Michael C Hall, Michael Esper and Sophia Anne Caruso have been confirmed to be reprising their roles from the original New York production, with full casting to be announced at a later date.
Having premiered at the New York Theatre Workshop in November 2015 for a limited season which sold out in record time, the show will transfer to London’s Theatreland to preview from 25 October at the unique station-based venue.
Inspired by Walter Tevis’ book The Man Who Fell To Earth, the musical follows the story of Thomas Newton, a ‘man’ seemingly unable to die and hence destined to remain on Earth. Soaking his head in cheap gin, and haunted by a past love, Newton’s fate could be about to change with the arrival of another lost soul – who might, finally, set him free.
Featuring the beloved legacy of Bowie’s music, and with such an exciting cast and production team behind it, tickets are sure to fly just as rapidly for Lazarus’ London transfer; they can be purchased from the show’s website.
Currently playing at the King’s Cross Theatre is the Olivier Award-winning duo of the sizzling Lin-Manuel Miranda musical In The Heights, along with the hugely popular stage adaptation of E Nesbit’s The Railway Children.
