It’s the toe-tapping musical film that sweeped swathes of cinemagoers off their feet – and now it’s being given a spectacular theatrical twist, as La La Land will play in London’s West End accompanied by a 60-piece orchestra at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
With the multi-Oscar film beamed live on a huge screen, audiences can enjoy the uplifting and heart-rending picture at London’s oldest venue following on from a successful sold out tour across the UK earlier in 2017.
The unique experience will play in the West End venue on Sunday 27 May 2018.
Written and directed by Damien Chazelle, La La Land tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
The film received 14 nominations at the 89th Academy Awards, and picked up six awards, most notably for Best Director, Best Actress, as well as Best Original Song for ‘City of Stars’ and Best Original Score.
Tickets will go on sale to the La La Land screening this Friday (15 December) via the Really Useful Group theatres website.
Theatre Royal Drury Lane currently plays host to 42nd Street, the critically acclaimed toe-tapping musical that’s sent West End spirits soaring with its blend of spectacular technicolor and show-stopping production numbers.
