In the latest of The Bodyguard‘s YouTube releases teasing the arrival of Beverley Knight, the British soul sensation belts out Whitney Houston classic I Have Nothing.
“Don’t make me close one more door,” sings Beverley Knight in this new teaser video of the award-winning British recording artist preparing to take on her first West End role, and so impassioned is she you might wonder whether she has been overused helping fellow cast members enter and exit the rehearsal room.
This is, of course, not the case. The latest YouTube video shows Shoulda Woulda Coulda singer Knight recording Whitney Houston’s classic passionate ballad of pleading love I Have Nothing, complete with a power key change to set neck hairs a-tingling.
Audiences will be able to see Knight display the same vocal mastery live when she joins the cast of The Bodyguard alongside new leading man Tristan Gemmill on 9 September. The singing star will play global superstar Rachel Marron in the musical adaptation of the hit 90s film. When Marron is threatened by an obsessive fan, her management team employ former secret service Frank Farmer to keep her safe. From early antagonism, a friendship grows, but the first rule of being a bodyguard is not to fall in love with the client.
