West End regulars Matt Rawle, Kaisa Hammerlund and Hal Fowler are to head south to join the cast of the Rose theatre Kingston’s forthcoming Christmas show The Three Musketeers.
Rawle, whose credits include Zorro and Evita, and Fowler (Les Misérables, Martin Guerre) team up with Paul Thornley (Noises Off at the National Theatre, In The Red And Brown Water at the Young Vic) to play the titular swordsmiths. Michael Pickering, recently seen in All The Fun Of The Fair at the Garrick theatre, joins them as young pretender D’Artagnan.
Hammerlund, seen last year in Trevor Nunn’s production of A Little Night Music, is to play Constance, with CJ Johnson, whose credits include the Donmar Warehouse production of Piaf, as Milady.
This new musical adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’s classic tale, which plays at the Rose theatre from 27 November to 2 January, is composed by George Stiles, whose previous work includes the West End musicals Mary Poppins and Honk!
Casting has also been announced for the Royal Court’s first ever family Christmas show, Get Santa!, written and directed by Anthony Neilson, with music by Nick Powell.
Recent LAMDA graduate Imogen Doel will make her professional stage debut as Holly, the young girl at the centre Neilson’s play who decides to wait up and trap Santa into giving her the only present she has ever wanted: to meet her real dad for the first time.
Doel is joined in the cast by Tom Godwin (Earthquakes In London, Enron), David Sterne (Nation), RSC actors Amanda Hadingue and Bill Buckhurst, along with Robert Stocks and Gabriel Quigley.
Get Santa! plays in the Royal Court’s Jerwood Theatre Downstairs from 1 December to 15 January (press night 14 December).
