Katherine Kingsley and Susannah Fielding will join Sheridan Smith and David Walliams in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the fourth production in the Michael Grandage Company’s star-studded season of five plays, which opens at the Noël Coward theatre later this year.

Last seen on the London stage giving an Olivier Award nominated performance as Lina Lamont in Singin’ In The Rain at the Palace theatre, Kingsley’s stage credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Piaf at the Donmar Warehouse and the West End production of The 39 Steps, while Doctor Who’s Fielding has previously been seen on stage in productions including All New People at the Duke of York’s theatre, and Much Ado About Nothing and Philistines, both at the National Theatre.

Playing Helena and Hermia, the love-struck women at the heart of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, Kingsley and Fielding will be joined by three actors – Pádraic Delaney, Stefano Braschi and Sam Swainsbury – who have already appeared in the Michael Grandage Company’s season.

Delaney (Oberon/Theseus is currently appearing alongside Daniel Radcliffe in The Cripple Of Inishmaan, Braschi was last seen on the London stage in Peter And Alice, and Swainsbury appeared in the company’s inaugural production of Privates On Parade.

Also joining two-time Olivier Award winner Smith (Titania) and Walliams (Bottom) are Craig Vye (London Wall at the St James theatre), Richard Dempsey (Propeller’s The Winter’s Tale and Henry V), Leo Wringer (Blackta at the Young Vic), Henry Everett, Gavin Fowler, Alex Large and Stefan Adegbola, who makes his professional stage debut in the production.

Shakespeare’s tale of complex love, mischief and chaos will play from 7 September (press night 17 September) to 16 November prior to the final production in the acclaimed director’s season, Henry V, which will see Jude Law take to the stage in the title role.
