Khan cancels DESH run

First Published 5 January 2012, Last Updated 13 February 2012

Choreographer and dancer Akram Khan has been forced to cancel forthcoming performances of one-man show DESH at Sadler’s Wells next month following an injured Achilles tendon.

The performer and founder of the Akram Khan Company had been due to perform at the Islington venue from 21 to 25 February. The run has been rescheduled for 2 to 6 October.

DESH, meaning “homeland” in Bengali, is touring worldwide. The solo show moves between Britain and Bangladesh, weaving threads of memory, experience and myth into a surreal world of surprising connections. The production made its critically-acclaimed London premiere last October at Sadler’s Wells.

Khan is expected to make a full recovery and all ticket holders will be contacted by Sadler’s Wells to arrange replacement tickets.
