Two of the West End’s most popular leading ladies, Kerry Ellis and Louise Dearman, will join forces for a one-off concert at the Prince Edward Theatre later this year.
The snappily titled Kerry Ellis And Louise Dearman, Live In Concert… Together will play at the home of Miss Saigon on 27 September. The unique production brings these two hugely popular performers together for the first time professionally and will also be the first time they have sung duets together since leaving Laine Theatre Arts in 1998.
Speaking about the one evening only performance, Ellis said: “We are thrilled to be sharing the Prince Edward stage and have already started planning our set. We love each other’s work and can’t wait to sing together.”
Two of the West End’s most sought after leading ladies, Ellis and Dearman are both veterans of long-running West End hit Wicked, each setting their own record with the Oz-set show.
Ellis was the first British performer to play Elphaba in the production, portraying the green witch so successfully that she also flew across the Atlantic to star in the Broadway production. Dearman was the first actress to play both the leading roles of Elphaba and Glinda in the show.
Between them, the pair boast musical theatre credits including We Will Rock You, Oliver!, My Fair Lady, Evita, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Cats, in which Ellis is currently performing.
The concert at the Prince Edward, which will feature a live band, promises to be an evening of iconic duets.
Dearman commented: “It’s going to be an amazing night and we can’t wait to entertain our fans with a truly memorable evening for all of us!”
