Tony Award-nominated actor and star of The Greatest Showman, Keala Settle, will make her West End debut this spring in Olivier Award-Winning & Juliet.
Keala shot to fame as Lettie Lutz, the bearded woman in P.T. Barnum’s circus in The Greatest Showman, in which she sings ‘This Is Me’, which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2018. You might have caught her singing This Is Me at last year’s Royal Variety Performance!
Although this will be her first role on the West End, Keala is no stranger to Broadway! She originated the role of Norma Valverde in Hands On A Hardbody in 2013, and was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award, and Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for the role. She was also in the original Broadway cast of Waitress in 2016, playing the role of Becky, and played Madame Thernardier in the 2014 Broadway revival of Les Misérables.
She will join the Olivier Award-winning Miriam-Teak Lee to play Juliet’s Nurse in smash-hit pop jukebox musical & Juliet from 29 March to 18 June this year at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
Miriam-Teak Lee – who was awarded the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2020 for her performance as Juliet – leads a cast including Cassidy Janson, who also won an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Anne Hathaway, Oliver Tompsett as William Shakespeare, Tim Mahendran as Francois and Alex Thomas-Smith as May.
David Bedella continues his Olivier Award-winning performance as Lance until Saturday 26 March, as does Jordan Luke Gage as Romeo. New cast for these roles from Tuesday 29 March will be announced at a later date.
