Kat B joins Hackney’s Mother Goose

First Published 8 October 2014, Last Updated 8 October 2014

Kat B will return to the Hackney Empire this Christmas season to star opposite Clive Rowe and Sharon D Clarke in the venue’s annual pantomime Mother Goose from 22 November.

The radio and television presenter, who returns to the east London theatre for a second year following his performance in 2013’s Puss In Boots, will play Billy Goose in the production.

He is reunited with Olivier Award winner Clarke, who also starred in last year’s festive offering, as the good enchantress Charity, alongside the show’s writer and director Susie McKenna, who will take on the role of her evil sister Vanity.

Also returning to the Hackney Empire for another year are Matt Dempsey (Enron, West End), Tony Timberlake (Chicago, Cambridge Theatre) and Darren Hart. They are joined by Abigail Rosser, who returns following her 2010 performance in Jack And The Beanstalk, and Alix Ross (Daddy Cool, Shaftesbury Theatre).

Set in the merry kingdom of Hackneytopia, Mother Goose charts the story of two enchantress sisters as they battle it out for the soul of Mother Goose. The question is, will she be saved by the golden egg-laying goose Princess Priscilla?

The production, which promises dazzling dance routines, colourful costumes and showstopping tunes, is the 16th panto to be written and directed by Hackney Empire’s Creative Director McKenna. It will see Rowe reprise his role as the title character following his Olivier Award nominated performance as Mother Goose in 2008.
