Jones is Leicester Square’s Space Vixen

Olivier Award-winning actress Leanne Jones will return to the London stage this summer to star in the cult sci-fi musical Saucy Jack And The Space Vixens, which will play a seven-week season at the Leicester Square theatre.

The multi award-winning Hairspray star will lead Charlotte Mann and Michael Fidler’s 1995 musical, which runs from 1 August to 15 September, as Bunny Lingus following appearances in The Sunny Side Of The Street at the Jermyn Street theatre, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown at the Tabard theatre and Tick Tick Boom at the Union theatre.

She will be joined in the cast of the raunchy space-set musical by Jamie Birkett, Ralph Bogard, Kristopher Bosch, David Malcolm, Kate Malyon, Marcus Reeves and Nigel Thomas, who take on the equally intriguingly – and provocatively – named roles including Booby Shevalle, Sammy Sax and Anna Labia.

Set in the seedy cabaret club Saucy Jack’s, the musical takes place on the planet Frottage III where all is not well. Danger lurks in every corner as the cabaret acts are picked off one by one by the relentless slingback killer who takes their victims’ lives by plunging a murderous heel deep into their chests!

Against the backdrop of gloom and fear, down-trodden waitress Booby Shevalle, talented Sammy Sax, barman Mitch Maypole, bar-fly Dr Whackoff and pan-galactic Chesty Prospects share their dreams and reveal secrets as the evil shadow of the Slingback Killer draws ever near. All is not lost as the glorious Space Vixens – interstellar, super-fashion crime fighters – arrive to save the day with the power of disco, glowing glitterboots and disco beams. Love interests develop, closets are opened and lives are saved before everything builds to an extraordinary musical climax.

If all that disco and glitter gets you in the mood for dancing, the Leicester Square theatre will be catering for all your Saturday Night fever needs with post-show discos following Friday and Saturday evening performances and pre-show cabaret on offer before every performance.
