Join RSC for storytelling this Christmas

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 18 April 2008

The Royal Shakespeare Company is holding several family storytelling sessions this Christmas season to accompany its stay at the New London theatre with King Lear and The Seagull.

Storytelling for under fives (King Lear – 28 December 14:15; The Seagull – 4 January 14:15) are interactive sessions which use music, rhythm and role play to introduce young children to the magic of King Lear or The Seagull.

Older children can attend Storytelling for 5-9s (King Lear – 28 December 15:30; The Seagull – 4 January 15:30), fun and practical sessions in which children can meet the characters, hear the stories and use costumes, props and acting skills to help recreate the two plays.

Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer, and tickets cost £2 per adult and £1 per child. All sessions take place at the New London, Drury Lane. To book, call 0870 890 0141.

Shakespeare’s King Lear and Chekhov’s The Seagull have been playing in repertoire at the New London since mid-November and are booking until 12 January. Directed by Trevor Nunn, the company includes Frances Barber and Ian McKellen. CB
