Olivier Award-winning comedy Jeeves And Wooster In Perfect Nonsense is to extend its run at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre until 17 January.
Though the news will rightly be met with excited cries of “Tally ho!” and “Huzzah!”, casting for the extension is yet to be announced. Current leading duo Robert Webb and Mark Heap complete their stint as the upper-class nincompoop and his face-saving valet this weekend. The all-important third member of the cast, Mark Hadfield, who plays a plethora of roles, also leaves this weekend, as he prepares to return to the London stage this autumn in the musical adaptation of Made In Dagenham.
James Lance and John Gordon Sinclair, who replace Webb and Heap from 30 June, along with co-writer and actor Robert Goodale who replaces Hadfield, will stay with the London show until 20 September. They then embark on a national tour, leaving the London spots up for grabs.
Written by Goodale with his brother David, the P G Wodehouse-inspired comedy tells the story of a trip to the countryside that goes awry, as Bertie Wooster, ably assisted by Jeeves, has to pull off the wedding of the season to preserve his bachelor status.
Directed by Sean Foley, the play, which opened in October 2013, won the 2014 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
